She directed Episode 6, titled “Napkins.” The episode follows Liza Colón-Zayas’ line cook Tina Marrero and opens the door into her life outside of the restaurant. Colón-Zayas was nominated for a Golden Globe for her work in Season 3.
At the Los Angeles premiere of The Bear Season 3 in June, Edebiri told Deadline that she cried when reading the Episode 6 script for the first time.
“It’s written very beautifully,” she said at the time. “I was just so moved by it and really, really touched that Chris [Storer] had me in mind to direct it. I could see it as soon as I read it.”
While this is her first directing nod, Edebiri has received several awards for her acting work on The Bear, including the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2023. She has also won a Golden Globe and two SAG Awards for her role.
Additionally, Edebiri was previously nominated for a WGA Award for an episode of What We Do in the Shadows.
