Axed Today host Karl Stefanovic's Christmas shopping spree

It’s been an eventful past few weeks for Karl Stefanovic, who married Jasmine Yarbrough earlier this month before being dumped by Today while on honeymoon.

The television presenter seems to now be focusing on the next big occasion, Christmas, as he was spotted doing some last minute festive shopping with his new wife over the weekend.

The 44-year-old, who will remain with Channel Nine in the new year, couldn’t stop smiling as he held onto Jasmine’s hand during their retail therapy session.

Casually dressed in a navy shirt and white shorts, the TV star was seen exiting a store with a box of goodies, including a bright red Santa costume.

Shoe designer Jasmine stepped out in a black dress and maroon handbag, with her sparkling rings clearly on display.

Last Wednesday it was announced Karl wouldn’t be returning to Today in 2019, just over a week after his and Jasmine’s wedding in Mexico.

“Nine and Karl Stefanovic have agreed it is time for him to step off the Today Show,” news and current affairs director Darren Wick said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Karl remains on contract with the network and will continue to host This Time Next Year which records in February.

“An announcement on the new line up and format of the Today Show will be made in the coming weeks.”

“For the last 14 years I’ve co-hosted the best show on television. I can’t thank Nine enough for the opportunity. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be good enough to host this grand show for so long,” Karl said in a statement.

“Thanks to our viewers mostly, you are what matters most. It’s been a tough time. Thanks for hanging in there. I look forward to seeing you in another capacity at this great Network soon.”
