Australia Day hacks to undo the ordinary this Jan 26th
Everyone loves a long weekend, especially in summer.
But while some of us will be attending shindigs this Australia Day, some of us will be keen to play hostess with the mostest.
So, how do we amp up the glam vibes to impress our group with the most fab event of the season? Whether it’s cracking the cap of your new favourite wine or getting creative with decorations, escape the ordinary and indulge in some style this Australia Day (AKA ditch the BBQ’d snags and try something a little different this year!)
Here are seven hacks to lift your hosting game:
1. Swap beer for rosé
Firstly, a sophisticated blush-hued bevvy is bound to grab attention on your Instagram Stories. Secondly, Kim Crawford Rosé is under $25 and has a vibrant dry taste that goes perfect with seafood on the barbie!
2. Propagate succulents
Clip some succulents from your local garden and place in a jar of water for chic and cheap table decorations.
3. Use a platter stencil
A foolproof way to nail your cheese board every time! Our favourite stencil is from Sydney platter queen Libby Gardner from The Platter Project.
4. Garnish table
Set up a mini buffet table to get muddling and pimp your rosé. Line up little bowls of berries, thyme and elderflower to jazz up your glass of vino.
5. Get lit
Set the mood with battery-operated fairy lights. Most big retail stores sell strings of little yellow bulbs, perfect for parties.
6. Place cards
Write guests’ names on a piece of fruit with an edible paint pen for beautiful place cards.
7. Condiments with confidence
Put sauces and chutneys in a muffin tray to avoid the grubby sauce bottle scenario.
Voilà – the perfect BBQ for this long weekend.
