Aussie schoolboy becomes viral 'superstar' after meeting Harry and Meghan

After capturing the hearts of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during their visit this week to Dubbo, Australian schoolboy Luke Vincent has become a superstar across the world.

Social media has gone into overdrive after the five-year-old hugged the royal couple and adorably touched the Duke of Sussex’s beard.

“That video of Prince Harry getting that hug and beard tug from 5 year old, Luke Vincent, is giving me hope today,” one royal fan wrote on Twitter.

“This was the sweetest moment,” wrote another. “Luke Vincent you’re a lucky boy and to the Duke and Duchess, thank you for breaking protocol and displaying your true nature. #AustralianRoyalTour #LukeVincent Couldn’t wipe the smile off my face.”

During an interview on Channel Seven’s Sunrise on Thursday, Anne Van Dartel, the principal at Luke’s school Buninyong Public, said little Luke was still overjoyed after meeting the Duke and Duchess.

“He is a superstar every day. Aren’t you, my friend?” she asked Luke.

“Yes,” he shyly responded.

“And did we meet Prince Harry yesterday? And what did he have?” she then asked him.

“A beard,” said Luke.

On Wednesday Luke had been waiting for the royal couple for hours, and in a heartwarming moment, the kindergartener dove straight in for a cuddle with Harry as the royal bent down to greet him.

The young boy, who has Down syndrome, was fascinated by the Duke of Sussex’s scruffy beard, and he reached in to touch it before presenting a pregnant Meghan with a some flowers and a hug.
