Cult American TV series Friends is proving it has staying power well beyond the 90s thanks to its resurgence on Netflix - and now fans can show their appreciation through footwear.

Asda is selling colour block Friends trainers for the bargain price of just £15 within their George clothing division.

Lex Wheeler shared the discovery of the sporty retro trainer in a Facebook group designed for people to share bargains - and it’s proving incredibly popular.

Since Lex shared photos of the shoes yesterday, her post has been liked almost 2,500 times and more than 5000 people have written comments.

Lex wrote: “I don’t know how long they have been out for but can only get them online I can’t find them in the stores near me. They are gorgeous” alongside a heart eyes emoji.

The trainers are pure white, featuring colour block detail in pink, blue and yellow with matching eyelets.

They have flat athletic lacing and plenty of padding on the insole and collar, alongside a lightly gripped sole.

One fan tagged a pal in the Facebook post, writing: “Can we get them please? Friends forever and all that.”

Another added: “I neeed these.” (sic)

However, others felt the Friends themed trainers might be a step too far.

One comment read: “I do love Friends but I wouldn't buy these.”

Another Facebook user was doubtful and wrote: “I don’t know if they’re acceptable to wear in public at the age of 31 are they?”

The trainers feature the trademark Friends typography written down each side of the shoe, and fittingly people have tagged their own friends in the comments on the post.

One woman wrote: “This made me think of you!!”

Another thought the shoes would be ‘great’ for under her wedding dress.

Friends followed the personal and professional lives of six twenty to thirty-something year old friends, living in Manhattan, New York.

It’s more than two decades since the sitcom first aired in 1994, but the show has truly stood the test of time.
