'Arthur' teacher Mr. Ratburn comes out as gay and gets married
PBS has just confirmed what some Arthur fans have suspected for years – Mr. Ratburn, Arthur's no-nonsense-with-a-heart-of-gold teacher, is gay.
The popular kids show has just entered its twenty second season, with the premier featuring a very special wedding between Mr. Ratburn and Patrick the aardvark.
Titled, ‘Mr. Ratburn and the Special Someone’, the episode celebrated the fact that teachers actually have a life outside of school - something the students found quite surprising.
“When they go home, they sharpen pencils, eat kale and dream up homework assignments,” Buster Baxter, Arthur's best friend claims about teachers.
“They don’t even sleep! They just go into low-power mode and watch documentaries.”

In the episode, the children get distressed when they see a woman, voiced by Jane Lynch, telling Mr. Ratburn to "toughen up."
Concerned that if their beloved teacher were to marry such a person he would be miserable, they are relieved to find out that she is his sister, and Mr. Ratburn is actually marrying Patrick.
The internet was not shy in sharing their opinions about the heartwarming episode, or the fact that the cartoon school teacher invited his students to his wedding.
James Charles may be canceled, but there's a new gay icon in town: Mr. Ratburn.
