Ariana Grande Channels Glinda the Good Witch in Custom Pink Vivienne Westwood Gown at ‘Wicked’ Sydney Premiere
Ariana Grande revived Glinda’s iconic pink gown at the premiere of “Wicked” in Sydney on Sunday. The “Eternal Sunshine” artist evoked Billie Burke’s costume from 1939’s “The Wizard of Oz” in a custom Vivienne Westwood look.
Grande’s voluminous tulle gown featured puff sleeves, a corseted bodice and crystal embellishments. The singer also added on a diamond butterfly choker by Lorraine Schwartz, another nod to Glinda’s original ensemble.

Stylist Mimi Cuttrell, who also counts Gigi Hadid and “Outer Banks” star Madelyn Cline as clients, dressed Grande for the occasion.
Hairdresser Michael Anthony styled Grande’s blond tresses in a half-updo, while makeup artist Gabor K. gave her sparkly eyeshadow and pink lip gloss.
Grande’s costar Cynthia Erivo channeled her “Wicked” character, Elphaba, wearing a black strapless Louis Vuitton gown with a peplum skirt.
“The Wizard of Oz” serves as the basis for the hit Broadway musical “Wicked,” upon which the upcoming film, out Nov. 22 in the United States, is based. Adrian Adolph Greenburg designed the costumes in the original film, although it’s possible that Glinda’s pink ballgown first appeared in 1936’s “San Francisco” and was reused for “The Wizard of Oz.”
On Monday, Grande attended a special screening of “Wicked” in New York, where she wore an ivory ensemble by Atelier Versace, which consisted of an asymmetrical structured vest with molded cups and silver buttons, as well as a flared skirt. A pair of white elbow-length gloves, pearl earrings and one of the Italian label’s Medusa ’95 handbags topped off her look.
“Glinda is finally here and she is enchanting,” artistic director Donatella Versace wrote on Instagram. “[Ariana] I can’t wait to see how amazingly you portray this character. I love you so much.”
