Royal fans were left delighted earlier this week when Meghan Markle and Prince Harry shared a new photo of baby son Archie.

In the image - taken during the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s festive break to Vancouver Island in Canada - the eight-month-old can be seen wrapped up in a grey beanie hat.

Now, the socially-conscious brand behind the cosy accessory have thanked the royal parents from the “bottom of their hearts” after being inundated with orders.

The founders of New Zealand-based Make Give Live - who for every hat sold donate a one knitted in their community groups to someone in need - revealed in a video posted on their Instagram how they had received “crazy” orders thanks to the “Archie effect”.

In the clip, Claire Conza and Becky Smith shared how they had been “blown away” by the global interest in their work, and how they hoped it would enable them to make more of an “impact” in the future.

Claire said: “We never could have expected what happened since what we called the ‘Archie effect’ a couple of days ago.

“It has catapulted us on to the world stage, we are blown away, surprised, delighted slightly overwhelmed!

“But really so excited about what this will enable us to do.”

Becky then added: “It’s going to make such a difference to us, the impact we can make and the areas that we work in, enable to do more for our community and our makes through the therapy of social connection.

“We can give away more hats to keep heads and hearts warm in the winter and we can spread our message of inclusion and kindness around the world which is what we are really all about.”

Claire continued: “We know that Meghan and Harry share these values too and we are so grateful that they shared that beautiful photo and of course the story behind it of our organisation and our purpose.”

They revealed that, due to demand, the ‘Cocobear’ hat, £24, worn by Archie, is now only available to pre-order.

Claire said: “The orders have been crazy flowing in so we have had to pull back, but we will reopen them as soon as we have a handle on that.

“Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts it just means the world to us.”

On their website, they revealed: “All our products are handmade by our community knitting groups and so you will unfortunately experience a delay on any pre-ordered items whilst they are made.”

However, they added that they have been able to secure more New Zealand merino wool from which the young royal’s hat was made.
