Anthony Mackie and Rachael RayIf it were up to Anthony Mackie, the Avengers would have a great cook in their lineup.
While speaking with PEOPLE following his appearance at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 on Saturday, July 27, to promote the next Captain America movie, the actor, 45, said he would select Rachael Ray to join his own personal lineup of Avengers.
"This might surprise you. Rachel Ray. I f------ love Rachael Ray," Mackie says. "She can cook for everybody. She has her own pots, her own [seasoning] and she's cute. She's like a little Dora the Explorer type thing, right? So she can hook it up. And I'm in love, hello?"
So I can be like, 'I'm going to go fight for you girl. I'm going to run out, fight, come back. What's up with that pasta, though?' " he added.
Mackie, when given an opportunity to select anyone — not just Marvel characters — for his dream Avengers lineup, tells PEOPLE he would also include his barber in New Orleans, Wade, as well as a friend of his named Jessica from Miami. Former president Barack Obama also made the cut.
"I would recruit Obama because everybody like Obama — we need a leader, he would tell us what to do. Then I would get the Incredible Hulk because he's Incredible Hulk — so he'd beat everybody up," Mackie shares. "So those are my Avengers. Very specific reasons."
