Angelina Jolie 'Moving Beyond the Past' After Dropping Legal Pursuit of Alleged Brad Pitt Plane Incident (Exclusive Source)
"She wants to focus on her family, work and the future," the source says of the 'Maria' actress
Angelina Jolie is looking to the future.
Days after the Maria actress, 49, ended her legal battle against the Department of Justice and the FBI over documents connected to the alleged 2016 plane incident involving her then-husband Brad Pitt, 60, a source says she is “actively moving beyond the past.”
“Being stuck in the past is not anything that Angie wants,” continues the source. “She wants to focus on her family, work and the future. These are all things that make her happy.”
In a 2022 Freedom of Information Act request, Jolie, using the name “Jane Doe,” asked to obtain FBI documents related to a flight she and Pitt took on Sept. 14, 2016. The documents she sought contained information about an allegedly abusive incident with Pitt in front of the couple's children.

Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt — her husband of two years and partner since 2005 — six days later.
Jolie and Pitt’s children — Maddox, 23, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and 16-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox — were reportedly on the transatlantic flight, and the Los Angeles Department of Child and Family Services and FBI investigated Pitt.
A source said at the time that Pitt became "verbally abusive" and "physical" with one of the six kids, an allegation that Pitt denied. Later that year, the FBI closed its investigation with no charges against Pitt and DCFS also concluded its investigation, reporting no findings of abuse.
Though Jolie and Pitt had their divorce bifurcated in 2019 and are both legally single, their divorce is still ongoing. They are also locked in a separate legal battle over Jolie’s sale of her portion of the French winery Miraval.

Despite the ongoing legal drama with Pitt, the actress is enjoying the warm reception to Maria, a film about opera legend Maria Callas, which is Jolie’s first acting role in three years.
The drama, which is getting Oscar buzz for Jolie, received standing ovations from audience members on several occasions, most recently at the New York Film Festival on Sept. 29. Maddox, Pax and Zahara all joined Jolie for the red carpet event in Manhattan.
Jolie “is thrilled about Maria and the praise. It was a project that she very much enjoyed and is proud of,” continues the source.
