Andrew Garfield Says He'll 'Never' 'Confirm or Deny' Anything About His Love Life
Andrew Garfield was most recently romantically linked to British author and spiritual advisor Kate Tomas
Andrew Garfield is no longer kissing and telling.
While speaking with Esquire for an interview published on Wednesday, Oct. 2, the actor made it clear that he has no interest in sharing details of his personal life and love life with the public.
“I have never, and I won’t ever, speak about or confirm or deny anything about my personal life with anyone, ever," Garfield, 41, said.
Esquire wrote that its interview with We Live in Time star came as he was reported to be dating Kate Tomas, an author and spiritual advisor. The pair were seen holding hands on what appeared to be a double date night with Phoebe Bridgers and Bo Burnham in Malibu, Calif. back in March. Representatives for the Academy Award-nominated actor and Tomas did not respond to PEOPLE's request for comment at that time.
Since that first sighting, Tomas and Garfield have since been spotted together a number of times. The author, podcast host and self-described “spiritual mentor” told The Sunday Times in July about the spotlight the relationship had brought upon her, saying of paparazzi, "They will take maybe 150 pictures, then they choose the four where you look worst."

Garfield has long been known for keeping his romances out of the public eye. Prior to Tomas, he was linked to model Alyssa Miller from 2021 to 2022; he also dated his Amazing Spider-Man costar Emma Stone in the 2010s.

The actor did briefly acknowledge his relationship with Stone, 35, while speaking with Esquire, after the outlet noted some fans of his purportedly believe her 2017 movie, La La Land, "is based in some way" on their relationship. "I guess people need something to believe," Garfield said in response, shrugging.
Garfield costars with Florence Pugh in their upcoming romance film We Live in Time, which marks his first on-screen role since the release of his string of 2021 movies, The Eyes of Tammy Faye, Spider-Man: No Way Home and tick, tick... BOOM!, the latter of which earned him an Oscar nomination. The new film, directed by John Crowley, sees Garfield playing a divorced man named Tobias who meets Almut (Pugh, 28) when she accidentally hits him with her car.
“He was 24 when we first worked together, so there’s a lot of life that’s happened to him since then,” Crowley, 55, told Esquire of working with Garfield again after they previously collaborated on 2007's Boy A. “The reservoir that he’s drawing on, especially for this story, is bigger and richer and more potent.”
We Live in Time is in theaters Oct. 11.
