She was refreshingly honest about her pregnancy journey and thankfully it seems like Amy Schumer is planning to be just as open about becoming a mum.

The 37-year-old welcomed her first child, Gene Attell Fischer, on May 6th - the same day Meghan Markle welcomed her son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, into the world.

Taking to her Instagram account, Amy shared a photo from the hospital, showing her hooked up to a drip while sitting on the toilet as her sister, Kim Caramele, looks loving at Gene, who is snoozing in her arms.

“Milf alert 1 o’clock,” she captioned the snap.

Two days ago, the comedian opened up in another honest post about the reality of having a baby, saying that the main thing she took away from her pregnancy was that ‘women are the s***’.

“Men are cool and whatever but women are f***** warriors and capable of anything” Amy said.

“I did Pilates with strong women and went for walks. I threw up violently and felt sick mostly every day of my pregnancy. Hyperemesis is real and it’s awful,” Amy said.

“But f*** what they say is true. The second you give birth it’s gone. @hgmoms has the best research I found on the condition The only thing that helped me with my nausea was products from @thelordjones I learned that globally 1 in 5 births take place without the assistance of a skilled birth attendant.

@everymomcounts is a great place to donate $250 equips a midwife with a bag of medical equipment needed to provide care to hundreds of women and babies in Guatemala.

“All my friends. Friends I’ve had for 30 years or people who encouraged me to “keep going” or telling me “it will be worth it”. Thank you.

“Every woman I encountered is so willing to help and advise you and I felt all their strength. And you were right. Thank you ladies from my family. Chris, Gene and of course Tatiana #titsleaking #wearingadiaper”

The post was accompanied by a cute photo of baby Gene sleeping on his mum’s chest.

Amy has previously slammed the lack of "medical research" into hyperemesis and endometriosis for making her throw up so late on in her pregnancy.

Alongside the blurred out snap of the pair in the park, she wrote on Instagram: "Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer set pulses racing while the heavily pregnant Schumer flaunts her growing baby bump.

"Amy is still pregnant and puking because money rarely goes to medical studies for women such as hyperemesis or endometriosis and instead goes to things like d*** not getting hard enough or old guys who want harder d***."

The Snatched star admitted she has found the whole pregnancy really "tough".

She shared a photo of her dog on Instagram and wrote: "The last few days have been tough. I'm grateful as hell and know it's temporary but tough just the same. Please if you don't mind. Post pics of your kids and tag me #amyschumer. My friends sending me pics and vids of their kids is making me feel so much better. Much love accepting dog photos too.(sic)"
