Amy Adams Ditched Tweezers to Display Her Real Chin Hairs in “Nightbitch”: It Grows 'Like I’m a Catfish'
The actress told 'Variety' that she volunteered to grow her chin hairs for the role
Amy Adams is committed to her role in Nightbitch.
In an interview with Variety published on Tuesday, Oct, 22, the actress, 50, said that she volunteered to grow out her own chin hairs for the film. Adams' character, referred to only as "Mother," is a struggling stay-at-home mom who transforms into a dog.
"The hair on the face — that was mine,” she told the outlet. “I saw it as a wonderful expression of the human experience without any artifice or filters. Or tweezers!”
The six-time Oscar nominee added, “I have that kind of hair that just grows overnight. One day it’s not there, and the next day it’s like I’m a catfish. That might turn some people away.”
The movie, which also stars Scoot McNairy, made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday, Sept. 7.
On the red carpet, Adams told PEOPLE that she feels "very grateful" after turning 50 in August.

"I feel wonderful at 50," the Arrival actress shared.
She continued, "I know everyone's like, 'Oh, it's 50.' And I'm like, I feel great. I feel very grateful, just very centered and happy to be here. Really grateful."
For the premiere, Adams wore a dark blue off-the-shoulder Prada gown with large bejeweled details and a pair of simple diamond hoop earrings. Her husband Darren Le Gallo and their daughter Aviana Olea Le Gallo, 14, joined her on the carpet.

"Parts of it I'm excited to share with her, being that it's her mom I'm gonna be a little bit more protective of certain aspects of the filmmaking," Adams told PEOPLE about watching the movie with her daughter.
"I think what I want her to know about my experience of motherhood is how much she's enriched my life and made me the woman that I am today," she added.
