Mum gives birth in hospital entrance just hours after baby shower

Most pregnant women don’t expect to leave their baby shower holding a newborn, but that’s what happened to this 26-year-old mum.

Cheoui de Leon didn’t think her daughter would be arriving for another two weeks when she went in for a check-up the morning of her baby shower.

Despite being told she was already two centimetres dilated, Cheoui, from the Philippines, decided to continue with her planned baby shower and stayed long enough to be “able to say goodbye to our guests.”

She and her fiance then got into their Toyota sedan but it got stuck in traffic on the way to the hospital and Cheoui went into labour in the car.

Their baby was born just as the couple were coming up to the hospital’s entrance.

“When we reached the ramp of the E.R., my fiance was able to catch the baby just in time when my water broke,” she told local media.

“She [the baby] slid out along with the water. I tried to stay calm and went with the flow. When she was out, I held her in my arms and waited for aid to come and assist.”

Both mother and daughter are doing well and the girl has been named Sabrina Leaouis.
