TikTok has been raving about this heated round brush all year, and some say it’s better than the Dyson Airwrap
Last year, everyone was all about the Dyson Airwrap, and I get it. It’s great. But the price is not. That’s probably why, this year, the girls on TikTok started flocking to the amika Blowout Babe Thermal Ionic Hairbrush. It can give you similar-looking results to Dyson’s multi-styler, has some seriously hair-smoothing abilities, it’s pin-drop quiet — and it’s only $100.

Essentially, it’s a cross between a curling wand and a round brush — a heated round brush. It’s totally quiet and doesn’t blow out any air like a round hair dryer. Instead, it has a 1.5-inch ceramic barrel that emits far-infrared heat to heat hair more evenly and in half the time of conventional heat, according to the product description. Like a lot of hot tools these days, it also uses negative ions to make hair look smooth and super shiny. The nylon bristles also gently grip hair and brush it smooth as you style.
TikTok user @victoriacasalinoo posted a video using the hair tool back in March, and it currently has roughly 1.4 million views. “Is this brush better than the Airwrap?” she said at the beginning of her video. “Yes, she said by the end,” after showing her incredible results.
More recently, @minniefrr posted a video using her amika Blowout Babe, and it has over 2.1 million views on the app.
But it was probably TikToker @ivashaa’s video using the brush on her curly hair that sold me. Her video has about 3.9 million views. “I think it looks so good. Considering the fact that this thing makes no noise, I think it turned out great,” she said in her post.
