Amazon is now selling alcohol

As if you needed anymore reason to get caught shopping on Amazon, the online retail giant has now launched a Wine, Beer and Spirits store.

Amazon.com.au will offer 3,000 products from emerging local brands such as Curatif Cocktails, SOFI Spritz and Lawrenny Estate, alongside well-known brands including Penfolds, VB, and Johnnie Walker.

Matt Furlong, Amazon Australia Country Manager said it’s all about convenience.

“Customers will be able to experience the convenience of ordering their favourite wine, beer or spirits alongside all the other products available on Amazon from household essentials, fashion and beauty, through to video games and books,” he said.

“We’re particularly thrilled to work with local brands at launch and help them access our customers, marketing tools and logistics expertise to grow their business.”

The arrival of Wine, Beer and Spirits adds to more than 125 million items already available on Amazon Australia with free delivery available for Prime members on domestic Prime-eligible products.

Customers who do not have Prime can enjoy free delivery on orders above $39, or sign up to the free 30-day trial.

Of course the online store has set up multiple precautions to ensure alcohol purchases are made and delivered appropriately. You’ll have to give your date of birth at the checkout and all alcohol deliveries are age verified, and none of the boxes will be left unattended.
