Amal and George Clooney charm Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace

They had a VIP invite to the royal wedding and even gifted Meghan Markle a trip on a private jet for her baby shower, but now Amal and George Clooney have charmed another member of the royal family.

Hollywood’s golden couple were pictured at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, where they shook hands and shared a joke with Prince Charles.

Amal, 41, looked like a princess herself in a one-shoulder white gown, as she and her husband attended an event to celebrate the Prince’s Trust charity.

They were joined at the palace by American actor Josh Hartnett, Welsh actor Luke Evans and UK actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Amal and George have become friendly with the royal family since moving to the UK permanently in 2014.

They famously appeared at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in May last year and are said to enjoy spending time with the royal duo at their Kensington Palace home.

Meghan Markle came under fire in February when she boarded a private jet to fly from New York to London after her baby shower.

The trip was thought to have cost about $180,000 and Amal is believed to have footed the bill.

However, Friends of the Earth, a group working towards a sustainable and environmentally-future, were not pleased with the Duchess.

“Private air travel obviously comes with a huge carbon footprint. Perhaps for future trips the Duchess could consider less carbon intensive modes of travel. We invite her to set a good climate trend by flying less,” a spokesperson told the Daily Mail.

Mum-of-two Amal, 41, was one of the famous faces in attendance at Meghan’s baby shower at The Mark Hotel on Wednesday. Serena Williams, Jessica Mulroney and Abigail Spencer were also there.

George is thought to have become friendly with the royal couple over their shared passion for championing human rights.

Amal is a human rights lawyer and Meghan Markle is a strong advocate for women’s rights, particularly in developing countries.
