Aly Michalka Tried Dating Kevin Jonas While Sister AJ Was with Joe but They Weren't 'Vibing': 'You Can't Force It'

An Aly Michalka and Kevin Jonas teenage romance just wasn't in the cards.

During the Wednesday, Jan. 8 episode of Call Her Daddy, the "Potential Breakup Song" duet spoke about their past love lives — which involved the Jonas Brothers.

AJ Michalka confirmed with host Alex Cooper that she had her first kiss with Joe Jonas in a bowling alley. "It was so innocent," she said, adding that they dated for at least a year.

The Super 8 actress, 33, said that the Jonas Brothers met the sisters while on tour when their band opened for them in the mid-2000s. "There was a spark and [I thought] oh, this would be fun," she recalled of getting to know Joe, now 35.

Aly, 35, meanwhile, was single but trying to get to know Kevin, 37, better, but sparks weren't flying between them. "They were trying to make something happen with me and Kevin," Aly added. "And it was not really vibing."

"And then it was like, no, maybe you can date the bass player Greg, and was like, no it's still not vibing," she continued.

"You can't force it," AJ added, while Aly clarified that it was "natural" that her sister and Joe had a connection.

AJ also said that they were home-schooled their whole lives and didn't experience the same things other teenagers might have in high school. However, their unusual childhood had its advantages.

"We had tours at a really young age," she said. "I wouldn't trade any of it because our experiences on the road were so cool."

She added that it's why she loves touring "as an adult" since it gave her an opportunity to connect with fans from a young age. "It's not jarring to go on the road," Aly added. "It's very natural for us."

Since their Disney Channel days, Kevin has been married to his wife Danielle for over 15 years. Kevin celebrated their anniversary in December with an Instagram post featuring a photo from their wedding. They share two daughters.

Aly, meanwhile, welcomed her first child — a son named Jack — in June with husband Stephen Ringer.
