Ally's brutal message to 'idiots' breaking social distancing laws
Ally Langdon has unleashed on Aussie’s who are flouting social-distancing rules to the potential detriment of thousands, suggesting if you refuse to comply with the lockdown, and particularly if you cough in other’s faces you should be ‘locked up’.
The new laws being put in place are designed to see the rapid spread of COVID-19 curtailed in the nation and include drastic, but necessary, measures including the shut down of most non-essential services and strict new limits on social gatherings.
Speaking to the NSW police commissioner, Ally and Karl asked after new measures being put in place to enforce social distancing, after the disastrous turnout at Bondi beach last weekend.
Commissioner Mick Fuller told the pair the scenes over the weekend were ‘unacceptable’ and that the drastic new penalities were designed to get people to do the right thing.
“We can issue now $1000 on the spot fines and up to $5000 to corporations,” he explained, going on to describe horrific reactions from members of the community.
In one chilling example, he told of a police officer being spat on during a breath test the offending party promptly charged with assault.
Horrified, Ally let loose with a savage question aimed at those using the virus to their advantage in such a violent way.
“Don’t you wish you could lock these idiots up?” she asked.
The commissioner said he ‘absolutely’ would love to, but shared a more generous reflection on the role of the force during the pandemic.
“Absolutely, but at the end of the day, I guess from a commissioner’s perspective, all our police are out there, turning up, still fit, healthy, they are committed to helping the community,” he said.
It’s not the first time Karl and Ally have let their emotions show while manning the breakfast show desk during the pandemic.
Earlier this week the two were reduced to tears during a moving segment featuring a former pub choir’s virtual rendition of ‘(They Long to Be) Close to You’ by The Carpenters.
Yesterday Karl also shone a light on the non-medical toll the virus is having on families, revealing his mum won’t be able to meet her new grandson, his daughter with wife Jasmine due in April.
