A man has been charged with arson over two torched tobacconists while allegedly trying to board a plane to Copenhagen.

Police have released vision of an alleged arson attack after a man was charged over the incidents in two tobacco shops in Brisbane’s south.

The wild vision allegedly shows a man breaking into a tobacco store on Old Cleveland Road East in Wellington Point at 3:40am on May 16.

One man is seen on camera throwing clothes around the tobacconist as another allegedly throws an unknown fluid around the shop.

He begins to allegedly set some of the clothes on fire before running from the scene to a Nissan Navara police allege was stolen from a Redbank Park address on May 5.

Police allege that he had attempted to break into a tobacconist on Old Cleveland Road in Capalaba just minutes before allegedly lighting the Wellington Point fire, but had been disrupted by a patrolling security guard.

Police allege the Annerley man is also behind another alleged arson incident at an Island Outlook Ave tobacco store in Thornlands on May 8.

Police accuse the man of deliberately lighting a fire at the store before leaving in an Audi RS4 that was allegedly stolen from a Wynnum property in March.

No one was physically injured during any of the alleged incidents.

Following officers’ investigations, the man was taken into police custody at Brisbane International Airport on Sunday while allegedly trying to board a plane bound for Copenhagen.

The 55-year-old has been charged with two counts each of arson and unlawful use of motor vehicle, and one count each of stealing and enter premises and commit indictable offence.

He will appear at Cleveland Magistrates Court on Monday.
