Alice Oseman Shares What's Next For 'Heartstopper'—Will Nick and Charlie's Love Story Get a Season 4?

Netflix's Heartstopper dropped all eight episodes of Season 3 in October 2024. Based on the graphic novels, author Alice Oseman is also the creator, executive producer and showrunner for the hit teen romance. In an interview with Tudum, Oseman revealed that she's eager to continue to the story of Nick, Charlie and the rest of the gang.

While Oseman indicates that she's excited to continue the story, there has been no official news on a renewal from Netflix. For now, she will focus on working on Volume 6 of the graphic novels. It might be a while to wait before we get more Heartstopper on our screens but here's everything we know for now.

Has Heartstopper been renewed for Season 4?

As of yet, Netflix has not made an official announcement regarding renewal. However, Oseman is eager to continue to telling the story of Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson, so all signs point to another season on the horizon.

How many episodes will be in Season 4 of Heartstopper?

All three seasons thus far have aired 8 episodes. There's no indication that Season 4 would be any different.

What graphic novels will Season 4 of Heartstopper be based on?

The next season of the show would likely adapt Heartstopper: Volume 5, which was released in December 2023. The first three seasons pulled material from Volumes 1 through 5 of the novels but there is still more material to be used in a new season of the show.

When will Season 4 of Heartstopper be released?

While Heartstopper has consistently released a season of the show since 2022, time between finales and premieres has been anywhere from 14 to 15 months apart. Therefore, a 2025 release could happen but we're more likely looking at a 2026 air date.

Who will be in Season 4 of Heartstopper?

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, most of the cast that appeared in Season 3 should return. Here is who we expect to see.

The cast also includes Fisayo Akinade, Chetna Pandya, Nima Taleghani and Bradley Riches. Seasons 1 & 2 saw Olivia Colman play Nick's mom but she has not returned since. Hayley Atwell joined the cast in Season 3 as Nick's aunt and Jonathan Bailey had a guest role as Jack Maddox.
