Alert: The First Teaser Trailer for the ‘Outlander’ Prequel Series Is Here
Yes, it is very depressing to think that the beloved Outlander will be ending with season 8. What will fans do without their yearly dose of Jamie and Claire? It's been nearly 10 years!! I guess they'll just have to rewatch every season, over and over again, for the rest of time?? But before falling into a whole pit of despair, listen up: there is a very exciting prequel series coming to Starz in 2025, and it might be enough to keep you going. While the series had been previously announced, Starz released the first footage of the series today, and... buckle up, because this looks so, so good.
Okay, what's the plot?
Here's the official description from Starz:
Outlander: Blood of My Blood will explore the lives and relationship of Claire’s parents, Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) and Jamie’s parents, Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy). The series will center on these two parallel love stories set in two different time periods.
And that is quite literally all we know about it! But this teaser trailer should be enough to get you excited.
Just to recap, the text in the video is: "Two love stories connected by time, loyalty, desire, passion, destiny." Okay, sign me up!! And previously, Starz released some photos from the show, too.
Okay, so based on the red hair and the period-appropriate attire, these are clearly Jamie's parents.
Hot!
And based on the fact that this actress looks FREAKISHLY like Caitríona Balfe, let's assume these are Claire's parents. (Also, the car feels like a pretty solid tip-off).
What else can we assume from the plot based on the books/show?
Because both these couples are mentioned in the show and the books, we can get some clues as to what the plot might be. Emphasis on might. The show has taken creative liberties in the past, so this could be incorrect.
Jamie's mom and dad (Ellen and Brian Fraser) were a bit of a Romeo and Juliet story. She was supposed to marry someone far more wealthy, and in fact, the marriage had all been arranged. But then she eloped with Brian Fraser (!), and the rest, as they say, is history.
Jamie and Claire's parents (Julia and Henry Beauchamp) died in a car crash when she was five years old. We don't know much else about them, so it'll be fun to get to know them through this new series.
When will the show premiere?
Starz announced that it will premiere this summer! But... that could mean June or August, we don't know yet. Here's hoping it's soon, though!
