Alec Baldwin spoofs Bret Baier, interrupts Kamala Harris in first “SNL” appearance since “Rust” case dismissal

"Yes, I do look like someone made a businessman in Minecraft."

Alec Baldwin is back on Saturday Night Live — but not in the wig you might expect.

Rather than reprise his role as former President Donald Trump, the actor embodied a different obstacle for Maya Rudolph's Kamala Harris: hostile Fox News anchor Bret Baier.

Much like their maligned Wednesday sit-down, the sketch featured Baier frequently interrupting the Democratic nominee and, at one point, playing the wrong clip from a Trump interview.

Seated opposite Rudolph, Baldwin began the "interview" by introducing himself as Baier, adding, "And to clear the air, yes, I do look like someone made a businessman in Minecraft."

He then said it was a pleasure to welcome her onto Fox News, to which Rudolph's Harris replied, "The pleasure is neither of ours."

Baldwin then launched into his leading question. "Give me the exact number of murderers you let loose in this country," he asked. But each time Rudolph's Harris tried to answer, he interrupted with a new number, "A million? Two million? Ten million? Give me a number."

"May I please finish?" Rudolph asked.

"I'm asking you to," Baldwin replied.

"Well, then you have to listen," she said, to which he responded, "Well I can't because I'm talking."

"Well," Rudolph said. "When will you stop?"

"Maybe when I go to bed," said Baldwin.

When she finally got a word in, Rudolph's Harris boasted about her success rate for prosecuting international drug cartels, arguing, "If I was in Breaking Bad it would have ended in three episodes."

That move led Baldwin's Baier to accuse her of trying to create a viral moment. Though Rudolph denied this, she immediately turned to the camera and recorded a TikTok: "See how I don't let them interrupt my answers? Very demure, very mindful," she told her followers.

The sketch also included appearances from James Austin Johnson as Trump and Dana Carvey as President Joe Biden. At one point, Rudolph's Harris argued that her presidency will be "j'billion times j'better" than "Juh-Biden."

Elsewhere, Johnson's Trump made the case for American's greatness, telling a crowd, "We're a failing country. America's a place full of jerks and idiots. But we love it. It's really bad."

As for Baldwin's Baier? He continued playing the wrong clips — and refusing to fess up — while finding every chance he could get to interrupt Rudolph.

"Stop talking," she finally said.

"I don't know how," he replied.

"Just shut your mouth."

"I don't think it does."

Baldwin’s surprise return to SNL marks his first appearance on the show since the involuntary manslaughter case against the Rust star and producer was abruptly dismissed in July amid allegations that prosecutors withheld evidence. The actor had been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who died on the film's set in 2021 when a prop gun Baldwin was holding discharged a live round. The actor pleaded not guilty and, throughout the legal battle, has maintained that he "didn't pull the trigger."

Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was previously convicted of involuntary manslaughter in a case surrounding the incident and sentenced to 18 months in prison.
