It really will be a Merry Christmas if Aldi has anything to do with it – the retailer has turned Christmas up a notch or two with a boozy holiday treat going on sale today.

Part of Aldi's 'The Jolly Season' special buy for Wednesday 13 November, is a set of Christmas baubles filled with 50ml of Christmas spirit - literally.

Made by The Lakes Distillery Company, the trinkets come in Vodka or Gin varieties, both spirits for which the company has won prestigious awards.

No cheap vodka to be seen here, the company took out the Best Vodka prize at the World Vodka Awards this year and has shrunk its premium offerings into adorable spherical ornaments perfect for a tree or table favour for your next Chrissie dinner.

Each pack comes with six baubles in total and will set you back $35.

The Vodka version has three flavours available for the varied palates of friends and family.

You can sip on 50ml of either the standard The Lakes Vodka, Salted Caramel Vodka or get a kick of energy from the Espresso Vodka.

For the gin lovers fear not, you’re definitely on Aldi’s nice list because they have something special for you too.

The gin packet has the same six baubles in their own pairs of flavours.

There is the standard Lakes Gin, the Damson Gin or the Sloe Gin.

Consider this a PSA however, because the supermarket’s deals often fly off the shelves quicker than you can blink, and with the hype this one is getting from customers we don’t see it hanging around too long (on the shelves or on the tree).

So get into the Christmas spirit ASAP, before it’s fresh out of stock.
