Aldi announces return of adults-only Easter favourite after huge demand

Those hoping to receive something other than chocolate for Easter this year will be thrilled to learn that a fan favourite Easter treat is hopping back onto Aldi shelves.

Aldi has announced that Hot Cross Bun Gin Liqueur is set to hit the shelves from Wednesday, March 30, just in time for Easter.

Manchester Drinks Co’s Gin Liqueur is infused with nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and spices which elicit the familiar and fruity taste of a traditional hot cross bun.

The bottles will be available in selected stores throughout New South Wales, Canberra, Victoria and Western Australia, but will not be sold in Queensland and South Australia due to liquor licensing limitations.

The 500ml bottles retail for $19.99, and will only be available while stocks last.

Due to the overwhelming response to last year’s release of the Hot Cross Bun Gin Liqueur, the German retailer appears to be preparing for a quick sell-out.

“Despite our careful planning, we apologise if selected items may sell out on the first day due to unexpected high demand,” Aldi wrote on its product listing for the gin.

Gin ‘not sticking around’ according to representative

Paul Handley, Spirits and Beer Buying Director for Aldi, said he was very excited to announce the return of the fan-favourite gin, but urged customers to get in quick.

“After becoming an instant favourite with our customers when it was introduced last year, we’re very excited to be bringing back our limited-edition Manchester Drinks Co’s Hot Cross Bun Gin Liqueur for Easter again in 2022!” Mr Handley said.

“Infused with all the delicious flavours of a hot cross bun, this rich and fruity gin liqueur is a great twist on a classic festive favourite and the perfect way to spice up your Easter festivities!" he continued.

“Enjoy it on the rocks, over ice or with a dash of soda.

“Like hot cross buns though, it’s not sticking around forever so eager customers should pick up their bottle soon.”
