Agent: Tua Tagovailoa will be healthy, ready for passing drills before April's NFL draft

Former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will be healthy and ready to perform passing drills ahead of April’s NFL draft, according to his agent Leigh Steinberg.

Tagovailoa declared for the draft last week following a junior season that ended with a dislocated and fractured hip he suffered on Nov. 16 against Mississippi St. that required surgery.

Initially projected as a potential No. 1 overall pick, Tagovailoa’s stock dropped after his injury alongside the breakout season from LSU’s Joe Burrow.

Healthy Tua a top 10 pick?

A healthy report could project Tagovailoa into first-round territory and potentially back into the top 10 where the Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Chargers, Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars could all have interest.

Tagovailoa’s workout could happen at Alabama’s pro day in March or another time prior to the draft if he’s not ready by then, according to Steinberg, who spoke with Alabama.com for a Tuesday story.

“I think he’s gonna blow away teams in that process,” Steinberg said.

His arm will be ready — what about his hip?

The session would consist of 60-to-80 throws in front of NFL scouts and last around 40 minutes, according to the report. He will participate in interviews at the Feb. 25 NFL scouting combine, according to Steinberg, but won’t be ready by then to participate in drills.

There’s no note in the report about Tagovailoa planning to do anything but throw in his workout. If he only throws, questions about his mobility in wake of the hip injury will surely linger.
