Adorable moment Koala mum and baby show up at Brisbane gym

This is the adorable moment a Koala mum and baby wandered into a Brisbane gym, surprising the owner and gym goers as they climbed onto the equipment.

Kiriana Giffin, the director and co-owner of The Results Room, in Mansfield, QLD, says the crossfit studio was just about to host a class when the furry pair decided they wanted to join in.

The gym is very small and people were hanging around when the koalas just walked through the roller doors,” Kiriana tells Yahoo Lifestyle.

“They were completely unfazed by the lights or people. They proceeded to wander through our facility testing out the equipment until settling on some equipment to watch the workout.”

Perhaps the Koala mum thought she was just in time for a mums and bubs class.

What’s even more surprising is that the gym isn’t anywhere near bushland, so Kiriana has no idea where the pair came from or how they made it all the way to her door.

“We are located in between two busy main roads near an industrial site,” she tells us.

“If you ever saw our place you would never expect to see a koala It’s not like it’s at the back of a forest! I mean, there’s a little bit of forest but it’s a fair way away.

“After a little while the mum climbed up on top of the bench press, basically. One girl actually did a workout whilst the koalas were watching her.”

Unsure exactly what to do the RSPCA were called to come and rescue them. They were able to catch the pair without any trouble, before taking them in for an overnight stay for observation. They were then tagged and released in the Bulimba Creek Catchment.

“The RSPCA said the mum didn’t put up much resistance when they took her off the machine,” Kiriana says.

“Apparently normally they would hiss and scratch, so they said maybe she was dehydrated or tired.”

Not quite able to believe what happened Kiriana shared photos of the visitors to Facebook.

“It’s breeding season so they’re more active at the moment than usual. I’m glad you kept them safe,” one person commented on the post.
