Adam Sandler Just Found Out Why Gen Z'ers Are Calling Him "Madame Sandler," And His Reaction Is Making Millions Of People Laugh
NOTE: This article has been updated to include a photo of Adam Sandler in a crop top, as requested by one of our readers because it adds a much-needed visual. 😂
Adam Sandler has entered the chat — and our day has been made...
Speaking to People at the recent premiere for his upcoming Love You comedy special on Netflix, Adam was asked if he knew he was a style icon.
"You know, this is an accidental thing but here I am wearing goofy clothes and...I don't know. I don't think about it but I appreciate you sayin' that," he told People in the viral clip that now has over 2 million views.
If you live under a bridge, Adam is known for wearing busy-print collared shirts and long athletic shorts with sneakers to just about anything:
His look is always the same, and, surprisingly in line with today's Gen Z fashion trends, he never wears ankle socks:
He wears his signature fit hooping on the court:
Out and about:
And at premieres:
Even when he's likely forced to wear a suit, he still makes sure his feet are comfy in sneakers:
Anyway, you get it. He's just Adam, not Ken:
And he's become a fashion icon for Gen Z'ers on social media over the last year. Here's a viral TikTok jingle about it. (It's hilarious, and I highly recommend you watch it.)
Speaking about his fashion last year on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Adam said, "[I'm] just a man who opened a suitcase and threw something on. My kids are mad at me about it. Every day I am sorry for the way I dress," he laughed.
So, after acknowledging his fashion icon status, People then asked Adam if he knew about the current "Madame Sandler" trend where Gen Z'ers wear long shorts and small crop tops.
Essentially, "Madame Sandler" IS Adam Sandler. The essence of who he is paired with his appreciated outfit choices:
His reaction was, of course, a genuine Adam Sandler laugh.
"A crop top I used to wear when I was young. I used to wear the half-shirt. Now, it would not be great for anybody. I get it, comfortable — that sounds like a good outfit," he said.
If your mind can't picture it, here is a young Adam in a crop top:
It is from his1994 film Airheads.
Well, besides people realizing how demure Adam was in the interview...
It was obvious they stand behind comfort when it comes to fashion:
And believe his style is its own fashion genre:
This goes without saying, but it seems like it would be very functional pregnant:
And really in everyday life. The people want an Adam clothing line:
Because Madame Sandler is the princess we all need:
Someone who is always unapologetically himself — and it shines through in their wardrobe:
So, princess or father, that man raised millennials — and is now looked up to as a fashion icon for Gen Z:
A MADAME SANDLER, if you will:
Okay, Adam, we are waiting for your clothing line to drop.
