Adam Perkins, viral Vine star and musician, dies at 24

Vine star Adam Perkins, who went viral with his video ‘Welcome to Chili's’ has died at the age of 24.

Hi twin brother, Patrick Perkins, announced the tragic news in an Instagram post, saying Adam died on the 11th of April. His cause of death was not revealed.

“I can’t even really put into words what this loss means for me. i’m often asked the question, “what’s it like to be a twin?” and my response is usually, “what’s it like to NOT be a twin?”,” Adam wrote.

“Being a twin is a very central part of my identity. it’s all i’ve known. and i’m struggling to find the words to explain what it will be like for me to live in this world without him. my best friend.”

In another post, Patrick posted a picture of Adam holding a guitar, writing: “Genius. an absolute and undeniable genius.”

Adam Perkins went viral back in 2015 when he released a video on former social media site Vine called ‘Welcome to Chili's’.

The short clip brought great amusement to thousands of people all over the world, with Adam walking into a room wearing only his underwear and saying: “Hi, welcome to Chili's”.

It’s believed the video was watched over 25 million times before Vine shut down in 2016.

He went on to create numerous other videos for his 300,000 followers on the site.

In 2018, Adam released his debut album, Latch Relay, after graduating from New York University with a degree in musical composition.

His last Instagram post from March 22 was a selfie posted from his room, alongside the caption: “Remember adam from vine? he’s 24 now and a business analyst working in data. feel old yet?”

Fans have left tributes on his photo, with one person writing: "U and your brother played such a part in my youth.”

“The influence you’ve had on me growing up... rip,” another person wrote.
