What better way to welcome spring than with a hair transformation? Leighton Meester unveiled her new russet colour on the Critics Choice red carpet, while Daisy Edgar-Jones revealed a glossy Seventies mid-cut at the Gucci autumn/winter 25 show. And if, like us, you've been glued to the latest season of The White Lotus, it's likely you've noticed Aimee Lou Wood's radiant new hair colour for the show.

The popular series, set this time in Thailand, offers up a cast of polished, wealthy individuals as they navigate a series of unfortunate events that befall their idyllic holiday. The British actress Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education) has joined the show this season, and with it has given us an enviable hair colour that we'll be bookmarking for our next appointment.

The shade, dubbed 'copper sundowner' by Larry King hair colourist Amy Fish, aims to recreate the effect of hair that's been naturally lifted by the sun, resulting in a lighter, softer, solar-dappled tone. "It's a luminous, soft copper balayage that effortlessly blends warm golden and copper lights through the mid lengths and ends of the hair," explains Fish. "Think of the glow of golden hour, when the sun bathes everything in a warm light."

Wood has bounced between golden-blonde and warm, mid-toned brunette shades in her real life, but this look focuses on bringing dimension to the hair through a combination of tones. Though this look was designed specifically to recreate that coveted sun-kissed, tropical-holiday effect, its soft transitional hues not only make it a flattering style for all skin tones, but a look that works throughout the year, too.

If you're feeling inspired by Wood's White Lotus style and looking to book your next colour appointment, Fish told us exactly what to ask for at the salon.

"I achieved this look by creating fine, slightly lighter slices throughout the hair for that seamless finish," she explained. "It’s not about making it blonde or making the ends heavily coloured. In fact, it's about not lifting the hair to too light a shade, and keeping the health of the hair the best it can be while lighting the ends softly."

"The key," she continues, "is not to make too much of a colour difference between the natural hair and the ends."

For taking the best care of your coloured hair, Fish shares her most important advice: "The biggest mistake people make when looking after their hair colour is not using the correct products. The right shampoo and conditioner is key. Protein [bond] products are very good for coloured hair, but not all hair types need protein, and it can have the opposite effect. Sometimes the hair just needs moisture."

Her tips for telling the difference between the two? Fish says to ask yourself: "When you brush your hair, do the ends feel like an elastic band? If so, the hair needs protein-based products."

She adds that if your hair feels rough when you run your fingers through it, you're more likely to benefit from moisture-rich products.

When the time comes for your own holiday — albeit hopefully one with less misfortune than in The White Lotus — Fish recommends protecting your hair from the sun with Redken's One United Multi-Benefit Treatment Spray. "It's a lightweight conditioning spray that has multiple benefits, one of them being UV protection," she explains. "Spray it on wet hair when newly washed, or use when getting in and out of the pool or sea."
