Former child star Aaron Carter dies aged 34
Aaron Carter, former child star-turned-rapper and the brother of Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter, has died at the age of 34.
TMZ reports that Aaron was found dead at his home in California on Saturday local time, with multiple sources telling the outlet his body was found in his bathtub.
Aaron’s representative confirmed the news to Page Six shortly after, saying: “It is with great regret to confirm Aaron Carter was found unresponsive this am in his home in Palmdale, CA.
“The family has been notified and will be flying out to Los Angeles. Aaron worked very hard towards the end of his life in recovery, to be a good father and to make amends with his family.”

Aaron began a career in pop music on the heels of his brother Nick’s success with the Backstreet Boys and released his debut self-titled album in 1997 at just 9 years old. His second album Aaron’s Party (Come Get It), featuring the hit singles I Want Candy and That’s How I Beat Shaq, was released in 2000 and sold more than three million copies in the US.
He then went on to guest star in episodes of All That and Lizzie McGuire, consequently beginning a short-lived romance with Hilary Duff, and made his Broadway debut in Seussical the Musical in 2001.
In 2005 Aaron starred in his only feature film Popstar, which was heavily based on his own life in the spotlight, and the following year he and his four siblings reunited for the reality show House of Carters.
As Aaron got older he made appearances on various reality competitions including Dancing with the Stars and Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off, and independently released his fifth album in 2018.
He also faced a number of legal troubles in recent years and struggled with substance abuse and mental health complications.
