'9-1-1' Fans, Brace Yourselves for This Disappointing Episode News
9-1-1 is knee-deep in season 8, and boy have a lot of things happened already!
The hit ABC drama has been airing new episodes over the last few weeks, and folks have seen the 118 go through some highs and lows. On one hand, viewers watched as Maddie Buckley (Jennifer Love Hewitt) learned she was expecting her second baby with Howard "Chimney" Han (Kenneth Choi). Elsewhere, Evan "Buck" Buckley (Oliver Stark) is trying to move on from an unexpected breakup, while Eddie Diaz (Ryan Guzman) is trying to parent his son Christopher (Gavin McHugh) while the latter is in Texas. What's more, Bobby Nash (Peter Krause) hasn't been a captain at the 118, as he went to be a technical advisor on the fictional series Hotshots. And as for Athena Grant Nash (Angela Bassett), she's been involved in quite a few emergencies since the season premiered back in September.
Phew — that was a lot to take in! While 9-1-1 is certainly capable of keeping folks on their toes, the show does have news that'll bring some disappointment. With the midseason finale airing on Thursday, November 21 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, viewers may be hoping that new episodes will air soon after that. Unfortunately, it's going to be a long wait, as there will be no more new episodes through the end of 2024.
When does 9-1-1 season 8 come back?
As for when folks can expect 9-1-1 to return with new episodes, the show will return in March 2025, with the season 8 midseason premiere slated for Tuesday, March 6, 2025 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, according to TVLine.
Speaking of what's to come in 9-1-1 season 8, showrunner Tim Minear teased to TV Insider that things will definitely come full circle for some of the main characters working in the 118.
"We’ll be sort of coming a little bit full circle from the beginning of the season and closing out some stories," he told the outlet in an article published on November 8.
What's more, the promo for the 9-1-1 season 8 midseason finale also teased a heart-pumping episode. Between Athena seemingly going undercover amid a jewelry store robbery and the 118 assisting in an unexpected tragedy on the set of Hotshots, it definitely will keep fans on the edge of their seats.
Even though it will be a while before 9-1-1 will be back on the air, fans can still watch some semblance of the 9-1-1 universe this winter. 9-1-1: Lone Star's final episodes in season 5 are set to premiere beginning on Monday, January 20, 2025 at 8 p.m. on Fox, with the series finale airing on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 9 p.m. ET.
With all of this happening, we definitely need to keep our eyes peeled for this!
