This is what a $70million pink diamond looks like

Diamonds are definitely a girl’s best friend. Especially when they look this stunning.

But while most of us would never be able to afford such a rock, it can’t hurt to look at what a cool $70million could get you.

This Pink Legacy diamond recently sold at auction for a whopping $50m USD (almost $70m AUD), which is a new world record price per carat for a pink diamond, the ABC reports.

The nearly-19-carat, rectangular-cut stone, the largest fancy vivid pink diamond that it has ever put under the hammer, was sold to renowned jeweller Harry Winston, at Christie’s autumn jewellery auction in Geneva, Switzerland.

It’s been dubbed the ‘Leonardo da Vinci of diamonds’ and is extremely rare.

Christie’s head of international jewellery Rahul Kadakia even said the auction house has sold only four diamonds weighing more than 10 carats of the same colour in its 251 years in business.

So maybe not something we can ask Santa for this year.
