The 7 Best Watches of the Week, From LeBron’s Audemars Piguet to Mark Zuckerberg’s F.P. Journe

Celebs seemed to be dressing their wrists for the occasion this week. Music icon Lenny Kravitz sported an ultra-stylish Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Duoface in the front row of a Saint Laurent fashion show, billionaire brainiac Mark Zuckerberg rocked a high-tech F.P. Journe Centigraphe Sport at a Meta conference, and former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury flexed a punchy Jacob & Co.’s Astronomia at a boxing event.

They weren’t the only ones picking the perfect watch for the task at hand, either. Basketball stars LeBron James and Jayson Tatum both showed off flashy Audemars Piguets at the L.A. premiere of Starting 5, while actor rapper Kid Cudi flaunted another, equally glitzy AP at an Alainpaul runway presentation and actor John Krasinski wore a stylish IWC Portugieser on the red carpet at the Albie Awards.

Boston Celtics player Jayson Tatum rocked a slam dunk of an Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 at the L.A. premiere of Starting 5 on Monday. The Swiss watchmaker only launched the Code 11.59 in 2019, but the model has already been reinterpreted many times. Released in 2022, this particular iteration is distinguished by a two-tone colorway, with a 41 mm black-ceramic case and a pink-gold bezel. The skeletonized dial showcases the same hues, with a black lacquered inner bezel, pink-gold accents, and white-gold hands. To top it off, the watch features a flying tourbillion and flyback chronograph. Limited to 50 examples, with price available upon request.

Former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury wore a knockout of a Jacob & Co. to a boxing event in the U.K. last Saturday. Unveiled in 2014, the Astronomia Solar Constellations is an ode to the cosmos. The 45.5 mm rose-gold case houses seven miniature stone planets, including a white granite Mercury, a rhodonite Venus, a red jasper Mars, a pietersite Jupiter, a tiger’s eye Saturn, a blue calcite Uranus, and a lapis Neptune. The three-dimensional Caliber JCAM19 movement allows all the planets to rotate around the dial in a dazzling fashion. The zodiac constellations are also engraved on the blued titanium base underneath. The otherworldy piece is limited to 101 examples, with the price available upon request.

Kid Cudi knows that the best way to stand out at a fashion show is with some dazzling wrist candy. The “Day ‘n’ Night” singer rocked a glitzy Audemars Piguet Royal Oak at the Alainpaul runway presentation during Paris Fashion Week. Introduced in 2016, this modern riff on the original Gerald Genta design from the early 1970s features a 41 mm yellow-gold case, a blue Grande Tapisserie dial with gold accents, and a matching gold bracelet. Powered by the in-house Caliber 2385, the watch is equipped with subdials at three, six, and nine o’clock for the chronograph functions and AP’s signature angled date window near five o’clock. You can expect to pay around $100,000 for one on the secondary market.

The Office star John Krasinski proved he is far more stylish than old James Halpert at the Albie Awards in New York City on Thursday night, pairing a chic tux and bowtie with a sleek IWC wristwatch. Released virtually at Watches & Wonders 2020, this particular Portugieser Chronograph features a large, 41 mm steel case, an elegant black dial, a matching black alligator strap, and a sapphire caseback that spotlights the Caliber 69355. The in-house automatic movement offers a power reserve of 48 hours. The chronograph is priced at $8,400.

LeBron James just showed off another swish timepiece from his impressive collection. The billionaire NBA legend, who has flexed his fair share of Rolexes and Pateks, sported a diamond-encrusted Audemars Piguet at the L.A. premiere of Starting 5 on Monday. Released in 2016, the iced-out reference showcases a 41 mm pink-gold case, a diamond-set bezel, and a diamond-pave dial. You can pick one up for around $80,000 to start building a lineup like the King’s.

As a Jaeger-LeCoultre ambassador, Lenny Kravitz oft rocks the Swiss watchmaker’s pieces on the red carpet but still manages to keep things fresh. The music icon sported a newly released Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon at the Saint Laurent runway presentation during Paris Fashion Week. Unveiled in March 2023, this Reverso evokes the classic swiveling models of the 1930s but has a few modern updates, including a 45.5 mm pink-gold case and the Calibre 847 movement. The watch, of course, features two faces: The simple silver dial allows the tourbillon to take center stage, while the partially skeletonized reverse side showcases a black dial with a second time zone and a day-night indicator. The stunner will set you back $139,000.

Mark Zuckerberg wore a fittingly complex F.P. Journe as he spoke about AI at the Meta Connect conference on Wednesday. Produced between 2011 and 2014, the Centigraphe Sport was the first chronograph to be feature a case, dial, bracelet, and movement made entirely of aluminum, according to the Swiss watchmaker. Powered by a hand-wound mechanical movement (Calibre 1506), the sporty 42 mm timepiece indicates elapsed times from a 100th of a second to 20 seconds to 10 minutes three subdials. The chronograph is started/stopped by a rocker in the case band rather than a regular pusher—it’s a nifty ergonomic feature that collectors are sure to appreciate. You can expect to pay six figures for a pre-owned example.
