1. Stand tall to beat pain
Mum was right—you need to stand up straight! Poor posture makes you physically weaker. Studies show that adopting a dominant pose (standing up straight and pushing out your chest) boosts testosterone levels, which are linked to better pain tolerance and reduced stress hormones. To defuse an unsettling experience, put your shoulders back!
2. Smile like you mean it
Botox can do more than erase wrinkles. Psychologists in the UK have noticed that people who find it hard to frown due to Botox injections also find it harder to feel negative emotions and generally experience more positive moods as a result. But Botox isn’t a depression cure. The study simply points to the power of a frown—and how resisting the urge to grimace can improve your outlook.
3. Let your fingers do the talking—your brain will thank you
Seems some actions do speak louder than words. Psychological scientists at The University of Chicago have released a study suggesting that hand gestures make our thoughts more concrete, which in turn helps with problem-solving. So start flaunting your handiwork!
