This year was filled with incredible TV shows. From new shows to returning favorites, there was something for everyone in 2024. A lot of these big shows also included TV character deaths that were either shocking, sad, or both. So, here are 27 of the biggest:

1.First, on Yellowstone, when Beth and Kayce found out their father, John Dutton, was dead inside his governor's mansion and it was made to look like a suicide.

2.On House of the Dragon, when Rhaenys and her dragon, Meleys, went head to head with Aegon and Sunfyre at the Battle of Rook's Rest. Then, she tragically died when Aemond arrived with Vhagar.

3.On Young Sheldon, when George Cooper Sr. suffered a fatal heartache at work and sadly died, which was a moment the show had been building towards for years.

4.On Outer Banks, when Groff stabbed and killed JJ after demanding that JJ give him "The Blue Crown" in exchange for Kie's life.

5.On Shōgun, when Mariko defied Ishido and stood in front of the door of the storehouse just as an explosion blew open the doors, with this all happening in front of Blackthorne.

6.On One Day, when Emma was killed by a reckless driver while biking, all while Dex was listening to a voicemail from her. And it was exactly 14 years to the day that she and Dex met in Edinburgh on St. Swithin's Day.

7.On The Boys, when Hughie sadly had to end his father's life after he was injected with Compound V and began terrorizing a hospital and killing people.

8.And on The Boys, when Butcher killed Neuman in order to steal the virus, mere moments after Homelander revealed that she was actually a Supe to the entire world.

9.On Only Murders in the Building, when Season 4 ended with yet another murder, this time when Mabel, Charles, and Oliver discovered Lester, the doorman, dead in the Arconia's fountain.

10.On The Penguin, when Oz thanked Victor for helping him, and then shockingly strangled Victor to death as he plead for Oz to stop.

11.On The Diplomat, when President Rayburn suddenly died after Hal revealed Penn's role in everything that happened, but now Penn is being prepared to be the next president.

12.On Agatha All Along, when Sharon Davis, aka Mrs. Hart, accompanied Agatha on the Witches' Road and then died after the very first trial.

13.And on Agatha All Along, when Alice tried to save Agatha from her mom during a trial on the Witches' Road, and then Agatha ended up absorbing Alice's magic and killed her.

14.Also on Agatha All Along, when Lilia heartbreakingly sacrificed herself during the second to last trial so that Agatha, Billy, and Jen could continue and complete the Witches' Road.

15.In X-Men '97, when Gambit shockingly sacrificed himself to destroy the Master Mold, which ultimately leaves Rogue absolutely devastated.

16.On Cobra Kai, when Kwon was shockingly impaled by a knife after Axel countered his attack while competing at Sekai Taikai.

17.On Arcane, when Isha loaded Jinx's pistol with a Hextech gem and sacrificed herself in order to destroy Vander and the Noxian soldiers before they could hurt Jinx.

18.On The Perfect Couple, when it was revealed that Merritt was the one who died right before Amelia and Benji's wedding.

19.On The Acolyte, when Qimir revealed himself as The Stranger, aka a Sith, to Sol and proceeded to kill Jecki and Yord back to back in such a brutal way.

20.And on The Acolyte, when Osha angrily killed Sol after he revealed how she and Mae were really created. This also led to the epic moment when Osha's lightsaber turned red.

21.On Grey's Anatomy, when Mika's sister, Chloe, sadly died after the duo got into a car accident, with this ultimately leading to Mika leaving Grey Sloan.

22.On Slow Horses, when it looked like River was shot and killed inside his grandfather's home — and by his grandfather — but it turned out to be an assassin disguised as River.

23.On The Legend of Vox Machina, when Ripley shot and killed Percy while he was fighting her away from the rest of the team, and then the team, namely Vex, found him.

24.On Bad Sisters, when Grace suddenly died in a car accident leaving her sisters absolutely heartbroken.

25.On Superman & Lois, during the series finale, when Clark recalled growing old alongside Lois and eventually watching her cancer return and she died peacefully.

26.On Wynonna Earp: Vengeance, when Doc heartbreakingly sacrificed himself to save Wynonna in the final minutes, and right after they finally talked about their relationship.

27.And finally, on The Umbrella Academy, during the series finale, when Viktor, Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus, Five, and Lila get absorbed, thus destroying all but a single timeline.
