2018 ARIA Awards: The complete winners list
The 2018 ARIA Awards was yet another successful night of celebration for Australia’s music industry on Wednesday.
Local boy band 5 Seconds Of Summer came out on top, winning the ultimate Song Of The Year Award for their smash hit, Youngblood.
Sydney boys Ashton Irwin, Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood and Michael Clifford, have taken the music world by storm in the past few years, and said there’s no chance of the group slowing down or splitting any time soon.
Meanwhile the winner of the Album Of The Year Award was Amy Shark for Love Monster.
“I really really wanted this,” the emotional 32-year-old said as she accepted the award on stage at The Star.
“Not just for me but for my whole team because there has been so much that’s gone into this and everyone’s just believed in me,” she explained.
The I Said Hi singer, who also won Best Pop Release and Best Female Artist, dedicated part of her speech to her husband Shane Billings, telling him, “You’re the reason I’m here”.
It was a big night for women in music, with country musician Kasey Chambers inducted into the ARIAs Hall of Fame.
“I am so proud to have become a strong woman in the music industry,” she said on stage.
“But I don’t think I am standing up here because I’m a strong woman. I don’t think I’m standing up here in spite of being a strong woman. I think I’m standing up here because I’m myself and that’s all we ever need to be.”
Keith Urban hosted Australian music’s night of nights, and had his wife Nicole Kidman in the audience cheering him on.
