TikTok's hottest song was written by a 19-year-old and his mom: 'Momma’s gonna make this a bop'

TikTok’s hottest song came out of nowhere.

At least, that’s what it seems like. “All TikTok Mashup (Upside Down),” recorded by 19-year-old singer JVKE, has been featured in more than 7.8 million videos on the app.

That’s just in the last two months. The track, which debuted on TikTok on July 6, is seemingly a collaboration between JVKE and … his mom.

The song, which features references to several other viral TikTok audios, came together after JVKE enlisted his mom’s production skills. The teenager shared a video documenting the entire process, which began with his mom (who he calls, “Ayo Momma”) creating her own instrumental for the track.

Then, Ayo Momma chops in a few famous TikTok songs — including KBFR’s “Hood Baby” and Jack Stauber’s “Buttercup.” Finally, she lets her son go to work on the vocals.

“Now, Ayo Momma’s gonna make this a bop,” she says before adding some hard-hitting drums.

The song has soundtracked dance challenges, prank videos, singalongs and basically every other kind of clip imaginable.

Meanwhile, JVKE has remained basically anonymous as a recording artist. On Spotify, he has only one song available for listening — and of course, it’s “Upside Down.”

TikTok is a different story though. The 19-year-old has continued making remixes with his mom, several of which have also gone viral.

He’s also continuing to promote “Upside Down,” which hit streaming services in mid-August. In a recent clip, the teen performs an “acoustic” version of the track with KBFR — the artist behind the original “Hood Baby” audio.
