1.How To Get Away With Murder
We're starting this list with a truly addicting series that'll make you want to watch all six seasons in one sitting. How To Get Away With Murder follows the lives of a law professor and her students, who must solve a dark, chilling mystery regarding their friend's death. It's a really compelling watch, and Viola Davis gives us an excellent performance (a literal Emmy-winning performance, I should add).
If you haven't ever watched Pretty Little Liars, now's the time to start. The show revolves around a group of four teenage girls, who begin to receive anonymous threats after their popular friend goes missing. With seven seasons, it's the perfect show to stay in and marathon watch during the cold months ahead.
3.Lucifer
Lucifer follows the life of Lucifer Morningstar, the Devil, who gets bored in Hell and decides to work for the Los Angeles Police Department to help solve crimes. The show is set up like NCIS, where each episode focuses on a different crime, working up to an overarching mystery each season. It's hilarious and weirdly comforting.
4.Only Murders In The Building
In Only Murders In The Building, three strangers are brought together after a death in their building inspires them to investigate. Along the way, the three slowly discover other mysteries related to their building and its residents. If you're looking for a funny, heartwarming mystery series with a New York City backdrop, this show is for you.
5.The Afterparty
The Afterparty was canceled way too soon (RIP to what could've been Season 3) but it's still 100% worth the watch. The series unfolds during a high school reunion afterparty, where the guests discover that their popular former classmate has been murdered. From there, the story transforms into a murder investigation, with each episode offering a fresh perspective from a different character on the events leading up to the crime.
6.Sharp Objects
Based on the psychological thriller novel by Gillian Flynn, Sharp Objects focuses on a journalist who comes back to her small hometown to cover the murder of two girls. As she digs deeper into the case, she uncovers the dark secrets hidden in her town. The story will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat.
7.Search Party
This dark comedy series is one of the funniest I've ever watched. Search Party revolves around a group of friends who investigate the disappearance of their former classmate. As they search for her, they end up in hilarious and ridiculous situations. It's a must-watch show.
8.The White Lotus
Unlike most of the other shows listed, this series isn't a murder mystery in the traditional sense. However, there are aspects of both murder and mystery in each season, so I thought I'd include it here. Let's just say it's one of HBO Max's most popular shows for a reason.

This is a show that doesn't get talked about enough. Top of the Lake follows the story of a detective who investigates the disappearance of a young girl in a small New Zealand town. As the investigation progresses, we learn all about the town's dark past, and suffice it to say, it'll take you for a ride.

Based on the novels by Craig Johnson, this show revolves around Walt Longmire, a Wyoming sheriff who is grieving the death of his wife. If you're looking for a classic mystery drama with a Western backdrop, this show is definitely for you.
11.The Flight Attendant
Imagine: you're a flight attendant and you go out for a night of heavy drinking during your layover in Bangkok. The next morning, without remembering a thing that happened the night before, you wake up in a hotel room next to a dead man. Well, that's the premise of The Flight Attendant. It's definitely one of the wittiest shows I've seen in recent years.
12.Broadchurch
This British series is so good, you'll be thinking about it for weeks. It stars Olivia Colman and David Tennant, who play detectives investigating the murder of a young boy in a small English town. As the investigation progresses, they uncover the dark history of the community as well as come to terms with their own haunting pasts. It'll shock you, for sure.
13.Deadloch
Like Broadchurch, this Australian show is about two detectives who must join forces to investigate a local murder. However, this series is much lighter in tone and well... funnier. Bonus points because it's also set in Tasmania, so we get to see the scenic backdrop of the island throughout the show.
14.Mare of Easttown
Kate Winslet won an Emmy for her acting in this show, so I'll let that speak for how amazing it is. She stars as Mare Sheehan, a detective who must solve a local murder in her small town. I won't reveal too much, but once you start watching, you won't be able to stop.
15.Fargo
Inspired by the 1996 movie of the same name, this series features different characters and crimes each season. In addition to its Midwest setting, the show is funny and the perfect amount of suspenseful, making it a really great series.
16.Poker Face
Created by the same director of Knives Out, Poker Face adds a refreshing twist on a classic detective show. The series centers on Charlie Cale (played by Natasha Lyonne), who has the unique ability to tell when people are lying. With her skills, she travels across the country to help solve crimes, and you'll be hooked every step of the way.
17.The Outsider
This show is based on Stephen King's novel of the same name, so you know it's going to be suspenseful. The show revolves around the murder investigation of a young boy. After the evidence points to two well-liked people in the town as the culprits, its eventually revealed that things may not be as straightforward as they may seem.

I'll watch anything with Jenna Ortega in it, but Wednesday is truly a standout show. This series, centered on Wednesday from the Addams Family, focuses on her time at boarding school, Nevermore Academy. After Wednesday learns about a string of murders in the town, she harnesses her psychic abilities to investigate the crimes. The show is a mystery comedy, and you'll want to watch the entire thing in one sitting.

If you're looking for a truly captivating mystery series, The Undoing will keep you guessing with every episode. It follows the life of a therapist whose life starts to unravel after her husband is accused of murder. The season follows the investigation of the murder, with twists and turns that'll have you shocked every step of the way.
