A twin brother and sister were killed in a Georgia house fire on Sunday that also left their mother critically injured, officials said.
Authorities said they received a call around 3 a.m. for a house fire in Manchester, according to CBS affiliate WANF and NBC affiliate WXIA.
Manchester Fire Chief Ben Williams told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that responding crews found heavy flames coming from the home.
The father, who lived at home with his wife and his two children, was not at home at the time of the blaze and arrived at the scene when firefighters responded, the paper reported.

According to the reports, the girl died at the scene while the mother and son were taken to the hospital. Meriwether County Emergency Management Agency Director Brin Jones told WANF that the woman was in critical condition with severe burns.
Williams and Jones did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's requests for comment.
Both children have been identified as Brionna Childs and Breon “BJ” Childs, both 10 years old, WANF reported.

“They were sweet kids. BJ and Bri are going to be missed," neighbor Victoria Favors told WXIA. "Just knowing that in the morning, I’m going to get up and walk out of my door and know that I won’t ever see them anymore.”
Stanley Childs, the children’s grandfather, said he will remember the fire for the rest of his life. “The house caught on fire right in the room where she was, and the little boy, which is Breon, he was on the bed with his mother,” he added.
Grandmother Trudie Childs said the children would have turned 11 on Feb. 15.
"My babies are gone. They gone,” said Childs. “I’m just asking the community, just pray. Give us strength, Lord. Pray for my son, pray for their mother. She down there fighting too."
