Even though both diet and exercise are essential for keeping weight off, trimming kilojoules from your diet is the most direct route to a smaller dress size.

“A 7km walk, for example, takes a little over an hour and burns about 2000 kilojoules,” says WH weight loss expert, Tara Diversi.

“But it’s much easier to cut out 2000 to 4000 kilojoules a day with some small and consistent food changes.”
