How to do Backstroke: Tips from Olympian Emily Seebohm

“To swim a better backstroke: keep your head back and hips up. It sounds simple, but it’ll make a big difference to your race. A lot of people tend to hold their head too far forward when backstroking (think: bringing their chin towards their chest). To find your ideal head position simply look at the roof (or sky) directly above you. as for your hips, be conscious of keeping them up during your race. Not only will this help you go faster – it’ll be easier on your legs as they won’t be as deep in the water.”
