Do away with breath mints, says a 2010 study in Journal of Food Science, as both fat free and whole milk are the nose and mouth odor-killers de jour.
If you're planning a romantic Valentine's Day dinner, consider a milkshake for dessert.
It mightn't sound like the dreamiest option but a milkshake or plain glass of milk after a garlic-laden dinner could take your date night further - and make tomorrow morning all the more pleasant - by nixing bad breath.
If you really want to be sure that all traces of passion-killing bad breath are gone, drink the white stuff during your meal.
According to the study, milk lowers the concentration of odor-causing compounds from garlic. While drinking after your meal gives good results, it's better to consume it as you chow down on your Italian pasta or Spanish tapas plate.
And good news - any option of milk will work. Choose fat free, low fat or whole milk; the high fat content of whole milk makes it more effective than other milk options but all will aid in busting odor.
