As the Olsen sisters generated a buzz by continuing to expand their popular luxury label The Row, Lindsay Lohan spoke out on her much-criticised role behind Emmanuel Ungaro's disaster showing at Paris Fashion Week. Following in their footsteps are The Kadashian sisters and Disney starlet Selena Gomez who all announced their foray into fashion design. Closer to home fashion fillies Miranda Kerr and Megan Gale did David Jones proud at the Spring Racing Carnival's first official event, while stylish tiny-tot Suri Cruise also shone a light on Australian fashion by stepping out in a handful of local labels.

OLSEN'S ANNOUNCE THIER NEW SUNGLASSES RANGE
Largely credited for re-introducing super-sized sunglasses to the fashion world back in 2006, and more recently putting round frames back on the fashion map, it's clear Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have a obsession with statement eye-wear. It's now been revealed that the duo will be releasing sunglasses as part of their high-end fashion label The Row.

Showing off a bold, square-framed style at Burberry's runway show during London Fashion Week, Mary-Kate sneakily previewed one of the four styles in the collection, which will also include aviator, round and vintage-inspired styles. "We're testing the market first and obviously these are four very different silhouettes, so we're seeing what people are responding to and we'll open up a couple more silhouettes for fall," Ashley told WWD.

With prices ranging from $US325-$390, The Row eye-wear is expected to be available from March. Australian fans can find them at Neimanmarcus.com and Saks.com.

STARS TURN FASHION DESIGNERS
The Kadashian sisters - Kim, Khloe and Kourtney - have announced they will be designing for US fashion brand Bebe. Renowned for their high-end designer tastes and creative flair, the sisters count Bebe as one of their favorite labels for affordable buys, with Kim especially loving the denim styles. Fans can expect to see the sister's signature, curve-accentuating pieces like body-con dresses and feminine blouses.

Announcing the news on her official website, Kim excitedly told fans that fashion design has been a long-held aspiration for the sisters. "Kourtney, Khloe and I are designing for Bebe! This is honestly a dream come true! We have always loved fashion and have wanted to design for such a long time and now we finally are!"

The Kasdashian sisters collection for Bebe will be available from March at bebe.com.

Joining fellow Disney starlets Hilary Duff and Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez is also set to try her hand at fashion design. Her line Dream Out Loud by Selena Gomez will be feminine with a bohemian vibe and will see a mix of floaty dresses, floral tops, jeans and accessories aimed at her tween fanbase.

"With my line, I really want to give the customer options on how they can put their own looks together," Gomez told WWD. "I want the pieces that can be easy to dress up or down, and the fabrics being eco-friendly and organic are super important. Also, the tags will all have some of my inspirational quotes on them. I'm just looking to send a good message."

LINDSAY'S STILL LEARNING
Lindsay Lohan has spoken out in defence of her role as creative consultant at Spanish fashion house Emmanuel Ungaro. The label's first runway collection since Lohan's appointment made headlines when it debuted at Paris Fashion Week on October 4. Lohan sighted "coming in so late and having not that much time to do a whole collection," as the reason behind the dismal reviews the collection received from the press. As well as WWD reporting that the clothes "looked cheesy and dated", the collection was widely ridiculed for the heart-shaped sequined pasties that peaked out from under the shirts and jackets of the models.

"I wasn't aware of the nipple tassels on the girls until they were walking out. I am going back to Paris for the next collection.I am learning," said Lohan last Wednesday at Victoria's Secret Velvet launch party in New York. But Lohan admits she is pressed for time to redeem herself before the release of the next collection adding, "It's already in January - I thought it was in March."

SURI'S FAVOURITE THINGS
It seems that Suri Cruise, the world's most stylish toddler, developed a love for Australian fashion labels during her visit with mum Katie Holmes last month. Recently snapped in her Australian finds while out and about in Boston, Suri's picks include a ruffled skirt by Metalicus Mini, a patterned maxi dress by Polka and a baby-doll dress and leggings by Moppit.

FASHION FILLIES TURN OUT IN STYLE
David Jones ambassadors Miranda Kerr and Megan Gale turned heads with their stylish ensembles at The BMW Caulfield Cup on Saturday Oct. 17, the first official date on the Spring Racing calendar. Kerr and Gale posed together, both wearing frocks by Alex Perry and head-wear by Sydney-based milliner Nerida Winter. Swathed in a neutral-hued draped mini dress and a vintage-style floral headpiece, Kerr opted for a soft, feminine silhouette while Gale sizzled in a figure-hugging dress in dramatic red, which she teamed with a wide-brimmed hat in a matching hue.

David Jones' Spring Racing collections are in store now, visit davidjones.com.au for store details.
