The cramped conditions continued as the crowd jostled for space on their way into the upstairs hall, where the runway was festooned with metallic representations of Diet Coke bottles.
The event brought together nine Australian and New Zealand designers - including Kirrily Johnston, Missoni, Marnie Skillings, Alice McCall and Alpha 60 - who each designed a range of dresses that took their inspiration from the shape of the Diet Coke bottle.
The dresses ranged from flirty - Alex Perry, floaty - Sass & Bide, tinged with red - Missoni, to simple pieces accessorised with club-kid accoutrements - Romance Was Born.
Jonathan Pease, the model mentor on Fox's Australia's Next Top Model, created the Diet Coke Little Black Dress campaign for Naked Communication, and with the show's judges, Alex Perry, Sarah Murdoch and Charlotte Dawson in the front row and seemingly in judging mode, it seems the catwalk featured some model hopefuls mixed in amongst the pros.
Celebrities in attendance included brand ambassador Margherita Missoni, model Alyssa Sutherland, Sass & Bide's Heidi Middleton and Sarah Jane Clarke, Sneaky Sound System's Daimon Downey, stylist Pip Edwards and MTV presenter Ruby Rose.
