Even if you’re not keyed in to where they come from, it’s impossible not to get caught up in the soul-deep rush of the three musicians of It might Get Loud, writes Andiee Paviour

DOCUMENTARY; PG, 1hr 34min
DIRECTOR: Davis Guggenheim

In 2008, rock-star guitarists Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), David "The Edge" Evans (U2) and Jack White (the White Stripes) got together on a Hollywood sound stage to swap stories and play their electric guitars. With their meeting as an anchor, An Inconvenient Truth director Guggenheim spent time with each man, travelling between London, Nashville and Dublin to meet up with them in places that are key to each one and witnessing them at work to give a sense of who and why they are.

At 48 and 65 respectively, the Edge and Page have a lot more years behind them than 34-year-old White. But all three are equally passionate about what they do (yep, it does get loud) and united in the joy they get from it. Even if you’re not keyed in to where they come from, it’s impossible not to get caught up in the soul-deep rush that making music gives these guys—plus they play like renegade angels. You could listen to them let loose for decades.
