Natalie Bassingthwaighte: Baby Before Wedding Bells

With their first baby due in three months and renovations on their new Melbourne home almost complete, Natalie Bassignthwaighte and her partner Cameron McGlinchey are the picture of domestic bliss - just don’t expect wedding bells anytime soon.

Bassingthwaighte, 34, who met her drummer beau as the former line up of the Rogue Traders, says their focus is on welcoming their new baby, due in early August, and that the pair don’t need a formal ceremony to feel committed to one another.

“Having a family is at the forefront of our minds right now,” the Underbelly actress told WHO at the TV Week Logie Awards on May 2, which was her last big event before impending motherhood. “We definitely feel like we already are [married], like we have that commitment.” However, “it’s something we’ll definitely do down the track.”

With So You Think Can Dance, Australia wrapped, the TV presenter, actress and singer is deferring any decision to return to the spotlight until after the baby, who will take McGlinchey’s surname, is born. “I don’t know how much I will be able to do or when,” says the self-professed “do-er” who has enrolled herself into an interior design course to keep her busy during her down time. “But for now, I’m really content - I can’t wipe the smile off my face.”
