Nicole Kidman will join Australian supplement brand, Swisse, as global brand ambassador, as the family-built company plans to roll out internationally in 2013.

The Academy Award winning actress will help launch the Melbourne-based brand across the USA, UK, Europe and Asia starting from early next year. It’s the first time Kidman - who has previously represented Chanel No. 5 and Omega watches - has signed on to endorse an Australian product.

Swisse “are a great company for me because they’re Australian and all about health,” Kidman told WHO Magazine exclusively. “I’ve looked at other opportunities in Australia before but I chose this because it felt like the right fit.”

The 45-year-old mother of two believes the brand aligns with her own health and wellness philosophy: “When you’re older and you have young children, what becomes important is staying healthy so that you can take care of them, be there for them and hopefully meet your grandchildren.”

As part of the three-year deal, Kidman has committed a donation to the Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick, who she has worked with for a “very long time. I like to give back,” she said. “For Keith and me, we try to make helping a big part of our existence.”

Kidman, who recently earned an Emmy nomination for her role as writer Martha Gellhorn in the HBO movie Hemingway & Gellhorn (premieres on Showcase for Foxtel, 8:30pm, Sept 12), will return to Australian shores next year to shoot an international television commercial for Swisse’s global marketing campaign.

“We are absolutely thrilled that Nicole Kidman is part of the Swisse family,” said the company’s CEO, Radek Sali. “Nicole represents everything the brand is about. We focus on health and happiness, and celebrating life every day. We look forward to sharing this message with the world.”
