No wonder the Duke of Cambridge loves this image of himself and his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. In fact, it's his favourite shot of the two of them.
William, 29, who couldn't stop breaking into a smirk as the Queen inspected graduates of the Sandhurst military academy in 2006, has posted the photo on the Historypin website on the occasion of Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee - and written a short, affectionate blurb about it.

"I felt especially proud to receive my commission as an officer in front of my grandmother, The Queen. She has been an incredible role model to me over the years," he writes.
"I remember The Queen's words as she addressed us from the tremendous parade ground at Sandhurst: 'You must be courageous yet selfless, leaders yet carers, confident yet considerate.' These qualities of selflessness and duty are values that The Queen has continuously demonstrated over the last 60 years and are qualities that remain very important to me."

Then just 24, William graduated from Sandhurst with another special lady present - his then-girlfriend Kate Middleton, who looked stunning in scarlet and would eventually become his wife.
Meanwhile, as the weekend approaches when the U.K officially celebrates the Queen's 60 years on the throne, a new poll reveals greater support for Prince Charles eventually succeeding Elizabeth and becoming king - rather than passing the crown directly to William.

I agree with the comment that yes, there would have been no Australia if not for the Brits....this country would be quite different now if settled by the Dutch or French or Spanish....not necessarily worse, but different and more to the point, not the country that we now have....I am not a Royalist either, but it should be kept in our minds what our true heritage is....

ReplyLOL It makes me laugh! You people who say you hate the british and "lets boot them out" are a bit short sighted. If it wasnt for them you wouldnt even be in Australia lol. Im no royalist and I am glad I dont have to spend any tax dollars keeping them. Also, its not their fault they cant go to the front lines ..its just common sense! how much would a country have to pay in ransom money if one of them was taken as a hostage.... wow some people need to get their facts straight before passing stupid comments LOL.
