Prince Harry Enjoys Beer and Burgers on First Night Out in U.S.

Prince Harry

The day after Prince Harry arrived in California for military training, he and a few pals visited a pub near San Diego.

"He said, 'I'm glad to be here,'" says Ted Taylor, bar manager for McP's Irish Pub and Grill in Coronado, Calif., about two hours away from the naval base in El Centro, where Harry is completing his Apache helicopter training.

"He sat outside at a picnic table and ate a burger and beer."

"He was very personable. He was a nice guy, very low-key," says Taylor.

"A couple of girls wanted to take pictures but they said no." (One patron Tweeted that he did have his photo taken with the Prince, however.)

Prince Harry, 27, and seven buddies stayed at the bar for more than an hour before heading out. The watering hole is popular among those training at the naval air field, since it's named for bar owner Greg McPartlin, who was a Navy Seal from 1969 to 1972.

According to Tweets, he also visited the Andaz Hotel in San Diego.

Prince Harry, who is known as Captain Wales in the Army Air Corps, "relaxed w/ some drinks while watching rugby," according to the hotel's Twitter. We think that the Prince may not have been to pleased with the outcome of the game he was in all likelihood watching as England lost to France in their Rugby World Cup quarter final on Saturday night.

He will be spending about a month in El Centro, Calif., before heading to Gila Bend Air Force Auxiliary Field in southern Arizona.
